I have never been to bio convention, but this year, I found myself at the San Diego convention for the first time. The convention was a blast, but the last part of the convention was a bit difficult. The last part made me realize that although I may be a “happier” person than usual, this convention still made me feel less like myself. I think I may have felt a little self-conscious about being at the convention.
The San Diego bio convention is actually a great place to be, in that it is an annual gathering of bio/bionics professionals. I did a few things at the convention, but I couldn’t help but feel a little self-conscious when I walked around and saw a man with a suit and tie in the convention hall. It seemed a little too casual for me to wear a suit and tie in public.
The truth of the matter is that it was just another day at the biobionics convention. We do this every year, but this year it really felt like a re-occurring event. The convention was really nice, but for me, the fact that I had to be the only person on the convention floor with a suit and tie really felt a little self-conscious.
I know, I know. It’s totally normal to feel like you’re doing something a little out of the ordinary. It’s the convention, after all. These conventions are supposed to be fun. They’re meant to be a celebration of the wonders of biotechnology. I actually wish I didn’t feel this way. I always feel like I’m really nerdy taking pictures of the speakers and then I’m going to have to do something about it. I’m not proud of that.
Thats a valid opinion, and I’m not sure if it holds any more weight on the convention floor. But on the convention floor, I’m really glad that the convention is not focused on the nerdy. The convention as a whole is supposed to be fun. In fact, the only reason this convention exists is because Bioware decided it was fun to host it.
I can’t help but feel a little guilty that the only thing I attend to is these conventions, and I’m so proud of the fact that I’ve even been invited to one. That’s a really cool feeling, even if it’s the same feeling I got when my friend told me that she’d been invited to BlizzCon. But when you’re on the convention floor, it really isn’t fun.
In our case, though, a convention isnt just an event, but a place where people gather and talk about things. A convention gives you the opportunity to meet new people, talk to old friends, and even make some new friends. Of course, you might meet new and interesting people, but the people you meet are just as likely to be the same people you went to school with or the people you grew up with or the people you hang out with at your high school reunion.
In the convention you’ll also be met by the convention’s moderators, and you’ll also meet people who are going through the process of becoming a part of the convention, including a couple of local people, the convention’s members. They’ll even be there to have a chat.
After we meet all the convention-goers, you’ll be invited to a meeting where they’ll talk about the convention. I know it doesn’t have much of an agenda, but you’ll learn things like how to build a wall.
